Photo Team!

 Photo Team!
Cara:
Cara's photos all seem to fall into a sophisticated and structural theme. Her photos all have a strong focus and don't have any distracting elements. In other words, her photos have "no nonsense". Each photo possesses a clear simplicity that shows the minimalism strategy of photography--making enhancing the beauty of simplicity. Corresponding to the structure of her photos, she also creates a lot of negative space. Cara also spaces her photos similarly, creating negative space and having a similar look regarding framing.

Grace:
Grace has a style to her photography that seems very cool and graphic. It's almost as if each photo she takes is for the purpose of being on a poster or on a t-shirt. Her photos are all very modern, seeming to target a specific audience of teenagers/young adults. Usually her photos are taken straight on, but when she does take an angle, she usually goes for a similar perspective that fits her style. It seems like her ideas and subjects come naturally to her, and she seizes opportunities to take photos that match her style.

Sasha:
All of Sasha's photos have a very sophisticated, modern, and stylish look to them. She has a style that seems almost professional and like she's shooting for a magazine. Her photos possess a dramatic look to them and are usually shot up close. Additionally, her photos have a very edgy and sort of urban bohemian-indie look to them. All of her photos look effortlessly natural, as if her ideas come easily to her because she knows exactly how she wants her photos to look/turn out.

Stefan:
Stefan's photos have a reasonably prominent and noticeable characteristic which is that he finds negative space in natural environments so naturally.  It seems like he has an eye that automatically looks out for these things, and the way he sets up the photo makes it really work well. He chooses a lot of similar angles and includes depth into a lot of his photos. He also uses similar framing, spacing, and placement of his subject/focus. He finds a way to show nature in an urban environment through his photos.

Roxie:
Roxie has a style to her photography that seems very fun and light spirited. It's almost as is she's photographing simply to please herself with the simple and happy characteristics of the world. She takes on a very modern style in her photography, and her photos look very modern, stylish, and edgy a lot of the time. She also has an eye for shapes, her photos all seem to have a very structured and almost geometrical look to them.

Maria:
Maria's photos all have a certain type of energy to them. It's almost like her photos possess some sort of life. She uses her editing to enhance her style in a positive way, upping the contrast and vibrance to bring out the bright colors of the pictures. Her photos all seem to have many different shapes in them, feeling structural essentially while incorporating a lot of architecture. She has a lot of fun with her photos, experimenting with aspects like depth and using a lot of effects.

Best of Spring Series

Assignment 23: Compilation of Best of Spring Series. My personal series for the spring was to take a picture up close of a feature of someone's with a phone, and then have them hold it in front of their face in the same spot of the actual feature, and take a photo of that. I wasn't going for perfect positioning because I wanted the imperfect placement to help bring out the silly feeling of the pictures. I also experimented with funny faces to enhance the light-spirited and fun essence of the series.

Spring Series 3

Assignment 22: Continuation of series. This week we were to further continue our personal series. This week I tried to improve by making them look even more silly, with funny faces, imperfect placement, and more zoomed/less zoomed photos.

Sping Series 2

Assignment 20: Continuation of series. This week we were supposed to continue the series we previously created and worked on. My series was taking a photo of a feature of someone's face with a phone, then having the person hold it in front of their face in the place of the actual feature. I had a more clear idea on what kind of photos I wanted, so I went for sillier, not as aligned and perfect photos. That way, the photos had a lighter feeling that was more silly and fun.

Spring Series

Assignment 19: Spring Series. This week we were to choose another series topic to explore. I chose to take pictures (using a phone) of a specific characteristic/feature of someone's face and then have the subject hold it in front of their face so it matched with the picture. I wasn't trying to make the match ups perfect, as I was going for a funnier and more quirky look.

Best of Personal Series

Assignment 19: Best of Personal Series. These are the photos out of all my drafts from my personal series that I thought were strongest to make one cohesive set. They're focused on wall textures, imperfections, and abstract features. I kept them all in black and white with higher contrast to help enhance the characteristics of the walls.

Personal Series 4

Assignment 18: 4th draft of personal series. This week was a continuation of our personal series. I continued my series on close-ups of wall textures. This week, I tried to focus on a specific type of wall--concrete. Whether there was moss, peeling paint, discoloration, weeds,  etc. I wanted to capture them all to incorporate the different characteristics of the walls while also showing show unique the textures and features were. I wanted to reach a picture that was abstract and had an artistry feeling to it while also showing that although it is simply a wall, it possesses many interesting and unique features. In order to boost the abstract look and enhance the textures, I continued to make the photos in black and white with more contrast.
