Assignment 9: Joan Fontcuberta. We chose a photographer we wanted to study, write a paper, and make a powerpoint about. About looking deeply into the photographer's work, we were supposed to create our own set inspired by that photographer. My photographer was Joan Fontcuberta. He focused mainly on simplicity and humor. The humorous aspect could be peculiar objects, set ups or scenes, or just a funny image. In addition to humor, he also sends a serious meaning through the photo that sparks contemplation. These are things I tried to imitate.

Sabrina, your photos are so fun to look at! I really like randomness in each photo. I believe your artist like to take pictures of things that are out of place. Most of your photos do look out of place (which is good). I really like the one with Mr. Cuddeback holding the bowl. I think your artist focuses on more on nature and I think it will be awesome if you added some more nature aspects into your series. Overall I absolutely love your series!! Keep it up!!
ReplyDeleteI really like all of your photos! I can definitely see the humor in them so good work!! I think the one of Mr. Cuddeback shows both humor and a serious message, which was a specific aspect you were trying to obtain. My favorites are definitely the first, last, and one of Stefan with the huge puddle. Keep up the good work and I agree that some more nature photos would definitely be nice!
ReplyDeleteSabrina, I think you photos are great and they really capture and explain your goals. The humor aspect you were trying to portray was well portrayed in a lot of them. Mr. Cuddeback holding a bowl exiting school is very random, and that is also what makes it funny. There serious side is that hes the head of authority at the school so there is the best of both aspects in one picture. I think you should try to get more images similar to that one. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThis a strong set of photos. I like how some photos are in color and some are in black and white. Your photos are very unique because each one is very different from each other. I like how all your photos have a sense of randomness and sense of humor in them. My favorites are the one of Mr. Cuddeback and the one of the pumpkin and the first photo with the hanging objects. Nice job Sabrina! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are strong! I really think you achieved your goals. A lot of them are funny, but maybe have them in full color, or choose different backgrounds. Good job though
ReplyDeleteSabrina, your photos are interesting and unique. I got the seriousness of the photos but not really the humour. Good Work!
ReplyDeletei really love your photos. i see how some of your pictures are humorous and how some are serious. great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat work this week, Sabrina! I think you really demonstrated the simplicity and humor well in your photos, as you aimed to do! Next time, you could experiment with different contrast levels if you want to make everything really pop! Good work!
ReplyDeleteI find this collection to be interesting. I dont always see the humor in them, but do like the angles you captured them in. My favorite photo in this collection is the one of Mr.Cuddeback. Nice Work.
