Assignment 12: Experimental Sketchbook. For the past two weeks, we have been working on using several of the pictures we already had, doing a lot of editing and adding text to convey emotion. Ideally, the emotions and feelings should be something we have, had, or currently experience. First, we used editing, tints, and mild filters as well as text to communicate the emotions. The text should be specific but also creative in describing the emotion. Our second challenge was to do the same but without text. This shifted our focus to more of the editing aspects and finding the perfect filters and textures to match our photos. I used a variety of filters and textures, and tried to "break out" of standard edited photos by adding multiple editing features and experimenting with colors, lighting and contrast. The specific filters or textures used are under the photo. Additionally there was much done with brightness, contrast, etc. If there isn't anything underneath, that means no specific filter was used, but many other simple editing techniques were combined and used. The first 6 photos include text, and the rest do not.

  1. Great job this week Sabrina! I love all of your photos :) My favorite is the 4th one. I love the black and white effect with the hint of dark blue text. I think the reflection is super cool and the placement of the text makes the image perfect. It's interesting to be able to look at the image and notice new things every time you look at it. I keep finding new pieces of text each time. It really gives the audience a sense of how you're feeling and it's really personal. I like that it's a very honest feeling. Keep up the good workkk!!

  2. Sabrina, your photos are great! I really like the 4th photo though. I love how you had different words that floated around in the water so there are different ending to the sentence. The reflection in the water was cool too. The darkness makes it feel really sad and it goes along with the words. Good Job.

  3. Sabrina! Good job on all of your photos! My favorite is the black and white image of the lock. I like it bc the only colored part is the words on the lock. I also like the shadowed picture because its similar to the lock image. I like how you edited those two photos. The last on was a really strong photo as well. The image itself and the coloring of the picture makes the image more dramatic. Good Job and keep up the good work!

  5. Great set of Photos! I really like the 5th one with the various birdhouses. The text along the ropes that hang the houses is a good idea and putting text along the lines of the image. Great job!
