Assignment 19: Spring Series. This week we were to choose another series topic to explore. I chose to take pictures (using a phone) of a specific characteristic/feature of someone's face and then have the subject hold it in front of their face so it matched with the picture. I wasn't trying to make the match ups perfect, as I was going for a funnier and more quirky look.

Best of Personal Series
Assignment 19: Best of Personal Series. These are the photos out of all my drafts from my personal series that I thought were strongest to make one cohesive set. They're focused on wall textures, imperfections, and abstract features. I kept them all in black and white with higher contrast to help enhance the characteristics of the walls.
Personal Series 4
Assignment 18: 4th draft of personal series. This week was a continuation of our personal series. I continued my series on close-ups of wall textures. This week, I tried to focus on a specific type of wall--concrete. Whether there was moss, peeling paint, discoloration, weeds, etc. I wanted to capture them all to incorporate the different characteristics of the walls while also showing show unique the textures and features were. I wanted to reach a picture that was abstract and had an artistry feeling to it while also showing that although it is simply a wall, it possesses many interesting and unique features. In order to boost the abstract look and enhance the textures, I continued to make the photos in black and white with more contrast.

Personal Series 2
Assignment 16: Continuation of personal series. This week we were supposed to continue our work on our personal series, mine being different walls close-up. I tried to improve this week by focusing on more specific aspects of wall textures. I wanted to go for more abstract, painterly, quirky, and imperfect pictures rather than uniform walls and textures with nothing special. I looked for a lot of imperfections such as cracks, drips, discolorations, and writing on the wall and kept away from plain bricks or perfect walls. Additionally, I payed more attention to the editing and upped the contrast a little to help enhance the textures and imperfections of the walls. I kept them all in black in white (again) to reduce the distraction of color and to keep the focus on the wall's texture/imperfections/artistic/classy feel.

Personal Series
Assignment 15: Personal Series. This week we were supposed to choose a style or theme that we wanted to explore in our own series. I decided on the theme of taking pictures of walls/fences. I explored with many different types of walls: wood, concrete, brick, etc. I also chose different angles and places to take the picture (ie. corner, straight forward, etc). I took the pictures close up so that the textures were easily seen and the details of the wall all came through in the photo. While editing, I made them all black and white so I could focus on the simple features of the wall without the distraction of color.

Experimental Series
Assignment 13: Experimental Series. This week's assignment was to choose a style, filter, texture, etc. from the previous week's experimental sketchbook and create a series based on it. The style I chose was from a photo where I made the entire photo block and white except for the shadow. Then I used tint in Picmonkey to make the shadow a certain color. I didn't want any faces so I could maintain a mysterious/anonymous feel to the photos. I also made them of only people and their bodies/legs. The perspective I chose had a common theme throughout the series and I tried to match the different colors with the photos/feeling of the photos.
